The Supreme Court is considering hearing arguments about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s interim bail due to the upcoming elections on May 10. Kejriwal has been in Tihar jail since March 21 under judicial custody after his arrest. The court had issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on April 15, asking for their response to Kejriwal’s plea. The High Court had earlier upheld his arrest on April 9, stating that it was lawful because Kejriwal had repeatedly ignored summonses and refused to participate in the investigation. This case revolves around alleged corruption and money laundering related to Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22, which has since been scrapped.
