14 Day Lockdown Imposed in Odisha, Begins From Today.

Streets were largely empty throughout the state of Odisha after the state government imposed a 14-day lockdown to curb the spread of the COVID-19 spread in the state. The state government however has allowed essential shops in and around the state to remain open from morning 6AM to 12PM. The government put out a notification that lists the essential services allowed in the state.

All health services and any intra-state travel regarding health services, the financial sector and services related to it, the public utility sector including oil and petrol services, sanitation and waste management, essential and commercial and private establishments, all transportation related to carrier goods and social sector and agricultural related activities will be allowed.

However, there are several other restrictions that are imposed in the state during weekend shutdown. Essential services like ration shops and grocery shops will be shut during the weekend shutdown. However, home delivery of essential services and restaurant takeaways will be allowed.

Any person violating these lockdown measures will be liable to be proceeded against the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and COVID-19 regulations 2020, besides legal action under Sec. 188 of the IPC, and other legal provisions as applicable.

Odisha reports 9889 COVID-19 positive cases, 16 fatalities in the last 24 hours.
