Second Cyclonic Storm, ‘Yaas’, likely to form over Bay of Bengal

The cyclone department has warned the Indian states of Bengal and Odisha of another upcoming Cyclone that is predicted to hit the coasts of Odisha and Bengal.

This cyclone, if formed will be called Yaas and is named by Oman. The cyclone is likely to be formed in the Bay of Bengal and hit the coasts by the 26th of May, as warned by the Indian Meteorological Department. This would be the second cyclone in a week to affect India. The first cyclone, namely Tauktae wreaked havoc in the western states of India after making a landfall in the state of Gujurat. The severe cyclonic storm destroyed several lives and property.

Odisha is known to face cyclones almost every year and has been appreciated for it’s disaster managing skills internationally.

Yaas is predicted to cause light to moderate rainfall at most places as it travels along.
