Every great dream begins with a dreamer and dreams do come true if chased with sincerity, dedication and perseverance. Today in Women’s day it’s a pleasure to introduce a young woman achiever, Dr. Ankita Rath. She is a multi dimentional powerhouse, who is as comfortable performing Odissi on stage as she brings healthy smiles on her patient’s face. A Doctor by profession and Dancer by passion, Ankita hails from the temple city Bhubaneswar. Dr. Ankita has excelled herself as young accomplished Odissi danseuse of present times who has proved her artistic brilliance through her swift agile movements, sculpturesque grace and expressive eyes. Dr.Ankita began her formal
training in Odissi dance at a tender age of five under the tutelage of Guru Smt Swapnarani Sinha. Being a prolific performer, Ankita has performed widely across the globe as well as the nation as a soloist and as a senior repertory member of Nrutyanilaya Ensemble. A recipient of many awards and accolades, prominent among them being “Guru Debaprasad Das Yuba Prativa Samman”, “ Debanshi Kalinga Nrutya Samman”, “Satkosia Nabagata Prativa Samman”, “Kala Samarpan Award” etc. She is an empaneled artist for Festivals of India in Outstanding category and Eastern Zonal Cultural Center, Govt of India. She has completed ‘Sangeet Bhaskar’ from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh and Masters in Culture Studies from Utkal University of Culture, Bhubaneswar. Over the years she has toured many places and participated in numerous workshops led by her guru. She has also established an institute named ‘Nrutyankita’ which grooms new talents.
Apart from being passionate in the field of dance, She is equally dedicated to her profession as a Dental Surgeon. Practicing in the field of Dentistry for last 10 years, she has successfully balanced between her passion and profession. Though, it was tough as both her choices were poles apart from each other but she made it possible through her intensive hard work and persistence. Serving as a Faculty member in Hi-tech Dental college and Hospitals, Dr. Ankita is a brilliant academician and clinician.
Dr. Ankita has also explored herself as a “compere(host)” to several state level events and dance festivals. She has also been a fashion model to several fashion houses promoting Odishan Handloom which adds another feather to her crown. A true inspiration to younger generation, Dr. Ankita gives the credit of her success to her Guru Smt Swapnarani Sinha, father Shri Bibhuti Bhusan Rath, mother Smt Sandhyarani Mohapatra, Uncle Shri Arun Kumar and brother Swastik who have always encouraged and supported her to pursue her dreams. So its inspiring to see such a young achiever who followed her passion with utmost dedication .So whoever said that women can’t do it all- think again !
