UPSC Achievers Of Odisha 2019 Examination

• 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐣𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐚, 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤-𝟏𝟎, 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐚, 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐡
A mechanical engineer and former assistant manager at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) Sanjita Mohapatra is now UPSC Odisha Topper. Her long-cherished dream of becoming a Collector will soon become a reality. Before UPSC she was ranked 2nd in OPSC Exam last year, but she didn’t join the state services and was determined to become an IAS, a dream which she has fulfilled now. She completed her schooling from Rourkela and after engineering, she joined RSP in 2013. But she quit her job in 2018 to get married. Instead of studying long hours at a stretch, Sanjita said, “preparing a weekly schedule and achieving the targets was the key to crack the examinations”.

• 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐢 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧, 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤-𝟑𝟏, 𝐉𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐰𝐚𝐫, 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐞
Simi Karan proved that experience is not a yardstick to achieve success. The 22-year-old girl has set a record by becoming the youngest rank holder from the state in the All-India Civil Services Examination-2019. She has scored 31st rank in her first attempt. After completing her schooling from DPS, Bhilai, Simi pursued B.Tech in Electrical Engineering at IIT Mumbai and passed out in 2019. She said, she had focus on smart work with hard work. ‘Be brutally honest with yourself’ was her mantra for success.

• 𝐀𝐧𝐮𝐩 𝐃𝐚𝐬, 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤-𝟏𝟐𝟎, 𝐉𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐡𝐩𝐮𝐫
Anup Das of Naugaon village, Jagatsinghpur, is son of former railway employee Late Nrusingha Das and Madhusmita Das. Anup had completed his matriculation from Central School, Paradip and Plus Two from the BJB College, Bhubaneswar before moving to New Delhi for pursuing higher studies.

• 𝐍𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐊𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐉𝐚𝐢𝐧, 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤-𝟏𝟐𝟓, 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐣𝐢
The small town of Kantabanji in Balangir is emerging as a place that raises civil servants. 25-year-old Nabal Kumar Jain of Kantabanji cracked the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination. Nabal is the fourth person from Balangir’s business centre in the past decade to make it to the civil services. After completing his schooling and higher education from Kantabanji, Nabal went to Raipur in Chattishgarh to become a chartered accountant (CA). Having done his CA, he moved to New Delhi to prepare for the UPSC examination. He cracked the UPSC exam and got posted in the Indian Railway Traffic Services but kept trying for a better rank. “I realized the exam was not tough but the competition was high. Strategic study, hard work and blessings of my family and friends helped me find success,” said Nabal.

• 𝗥𝗮𝗵𝘂𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝗲𝗹, 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗸-𝟭𝟲𝟴, 𝗞𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮
Coming from a remote area like Kesinga in Kalahandi district, Rahul Goel is now ready to work in backward areas. After completing his schooling from Kesinga he took coaching at Kota. He passed Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 2018. Rahul’s advice for youngsters aiming to crack UPSC is to be confident and work hard.

• 𝐊𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐁𝐢𝐬𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐣𝐚𝐧, 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤-𝟏𝟖𝟐, 𝐉𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐡𝐩𝐮𝐫
A farmer’s son, Kumar Biswaranjan ranked 182th in the UPSC examination. Born in a poor family in Beruan village of Jaionkanti gram panchayat in Jagatsinghpur district, Biswaranjan had experienced adversity during childhood. To give him good education, his mother came to Bhubaneswar and started tailoring work. Inspired by his parents, Biswaranjan worked hard and went onto excel in his studies. Biswaranjan had ranked sixth in the HSC examination and eighth in Plus Two Science examination. He started preparation for Civil Service during his B.Tech days at IIT Guwahati.

• 𝐕𝐞𝐝𝐛𝐡𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐧, 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤-𝟏𝟗𝟓, 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐩𝐮𝐫
Vedbhushan, son of Somadutta, who works as a senior teacher at Sambalpur Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, has ranked 195 in the UPSC Examination. Vedbhushan is a native of Bargarh district and is currently undergoing IRS training after getting 293rd rank in the 2017 Administrative Service Examination. In this regard, Vedbhushan said that he had hoped for a better cadre in 2017, but did not get it. So he tried his luck at UPSC exams again. His decision was backed by blessings of his father Somdatta and his mother Suravi and he had full support of his mentors and friends.

• 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐬 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐣𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐡𝐮, 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤-𝟓𝟔𝟕, 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐚
B.Tech Electrical Engineer Manas Ranjan Sahu has secured 567th rank in UPSC examination. After passing the Odisha Administrative Service Examination in the year 2017, he was working as tehsildar in Rourkela. He obtained a B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi. He had passed Inter Science examination from Deepika English School in Sector-5, Rourkela. Manas Ranjan is son of Indu Sahu, former chairman of Bisra block in Sundergarh district and Mahendra Sahu, sarpanch of Zaraikela.
