Share the news

The Supreme Court is currently hearing petitions to cancel and re-examine NEET-UG 2024, following allegations of a paper leak and irregularities in grace mark allocation. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has revealed that scores of 1,563 candidates have been invalidated, with a re-examination scheduled for June 23 and results expected by June 30.A vacation bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Ahsanuddin Amanullah is addressing the first petition, filed by Shivangi Mishra and others on June 1, prior to the results being announced (Shivangi Mishra and others vs. National Testing Agency and others). The hearing includes three other petitions seeking to cancel the NEET UG 2024 due to alleged anomalies in grace marks distribution. Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta will also consider requests to stay the counseling process, citing widespread irregularities and the NTA’s decision to award grace marks to over 1,500 candidates because of “loss of time.”Previously, the Supreme Court issued notices to the central government and NTA regarding these petitions. While acknowledging that the sanctity of the medical entrance exam had been compromised, the court did not stay the undergraduate medical admissions counseling process. Further hearings are scheduled for July 8.
