Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced quitting captaincy from Chennai Super Kings that he was leading for over 14 years now. He handed over the baton to his contemporary Ravindra Jadeja. Dhoni has played in the IPL team and under the Captain Cool’s leadership, the team definitely rose to new heights.
On Thursday, CSK’s statement read, “MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the leadership of Chennai Super Kings and picked Ravindra Jadeja to lead the team. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond.”

However for the fans who grew up watching MS Dhoni leading Team India and then the IPL team of Chennai Super Kings, it’s the end of an era. Dhoni has led the team to win four IPL trophies, partake in nine finals and 11 playoffs.

The Chennai Super Kings Team bid an emotional goodbye with the caption, “Oh Captain, Our Captain!”
