Why Wasn’t Suresh Raina bought by CSK this year?

Suresh Raina has been one of the most consistent players in IPL and has many badges to his credit. He was one of the oldest players of the team. However, this year Raina wasn’t retained by the team. He had set a base price of 2 crore for himself. What was shocking for cricket fans was that CSK didn’t even bid for him.

However, the CEO of Chennai Super Kings, Kasi Viswanath clarified and said, “Raina has been one of the most consistent performers for CSK for the last 12 years. Of course, it was very difficult for us, not to have Raina but at the same time, you should also understand that the team composition depends on the form and kind of team which any team would like to have so that’s one of the reasons why we thought he may not fit into this team.” He said this in a video uploaded by the Chennai Super Kings on YouTube.
