Wearing Hijab Not Essential Religious Practice: Karnataka HC

The Karnataka High Court rejected a batch of petitions filed by students from colleges in Udupi seeking the court to recognise Hijab as an essential practice in Islam.
We are of the considered opinion that wearing of the hijab by Muslim women does not make up an essential religious practice in Islamic faith,” the bench comprising Karnataka Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, Justices Krishna S Dixit and J M Khazi said.
