The Election Commission informed that they have postponed the date of polling as many devotees will travel to Varanasi to celebrate Ravidas Jayanti that is on the 16th of February.

Several political leaders including Chief Minister Channi and Bhagwant Mann had written to the ECI requesting to reschedule the poll date. A large population of the Scheduled caste move to Varanasi a week before the festival and they would not be able to vote.
