Odisha Govt Directs Dists To Take Up More Labour Intensive Projects

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to boost the employment activities in rural areas, the Odisha government has decided to take up more labour intensive projects under MGNREGS and Odisha Livelihood Mission to engage daily wagers.

In a letter to district collectors, Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy has directed to encourage labour intensive projects like farm pond, multi garden, trench in forest areas, large scale plantation, stop dam, horticulture, sericulture and fodder cultivation.

With return of migrant workers to Odisha continuing on daily basisis, Tripathy has set the target of generating 20 lakh mandays per day by May 31, and 100 per cent timely payment of wages. Till now, 12 lakh mandays have been generated in the state.
