Bhubaneswar : In order to ensure hassle-free evaluation of Plus II examination answer scripts, the School and Mass Education Department has urged all the district collectors to exempt the evaluation centres from the purview of weekend shutdown imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus.

“The evaluation of answer scripts of annual higher secondary examination 2020 conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha is going on from June 1, but the process of evaluation has been badly affected by the weekly shutdown declared by different district administration/local authorities on Saturday & Sunday,” S&ME principal secretary Chithra Arumugam said in a letter addressed to all Collectors, SPs and DCPs of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

Since evaluation matter is an urgent in nature and contains the time bound publication of result, you are therefore requested to permit the respective evaluation zones to remain open on Saturday & Sunday (the weekly shutdown period) to allow the examiner, technical support staff and others associated with the evaluation process for to and fro movement between their residence and evaluation zones upon production of appointment letter or identity card, the letter noted.

The Mass Education department has also expressed concern over absence of evaluators during the exercise due to the shutdown restrictions and sought the intervention of the director of higher secondary education.

“The Plus II evaluation has been badly affected by the low attendance of the evaluators in the valuation zones. In some cases the attendance the evaluators is 50 per cent or low in many zones. In order to ensure timely publication of result, the joining up more numbers of evaluators at respective zones/centres is quite necessary at this moment,” additional secretary of S&ME department, Pratap Kumar Mishra wrote in a letter to the higher secondary education director.

Mishra requested the higher secondary education director to issue necessary instruction to the concerned principals/higher secondary schools to relive all the examiners approved by the CHSE except in case of any genuine problem explained and recommended by the principal concerned.
