Odisha CM Launched Grievance Cell, Pledges Direct Government Communication

On its first day of operation, the grievance cell registered a total of 1,540 complaints and welcomed over 5,000 visitors. The event was attended by several key members of the state cabinet, including Deputy CM K.V. Singh Deo, Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Minister Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia, Co-operation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta, and Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the state’s new Chief Minister’s grievance cell at Unit V in Bhubaneswar, marking a significant step towards addressing citizen concerns directly. In his address, CM Majhi highlighted a departure from past practices, emphasizing a renewed focus on resolving public grievances promptly.

“During the previous administration, there was a disconnect between the government and the people,” Majhi stated. “Today, we have broken down those barriers, establishing a direct link to address citizen concerns effectively.”

The Chief Minister committed to personally overseeing grievance redressal sessions at the cell every Monday. Additionally, he announced the reinstatement of district-level grievance hearings to enhance accessibility and responsiveness across Odisha. Majhi assured that nearly 99% of complaints received during the inaugural session would be resolved promptly.

The launch of the Chief Minister’s grievance cell signifies a proactive approach by the Odisha government to foster direct communication and swift resolution of public grievances, reflecting its commitment to accountability and transparency in governance.
