Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be sworn in alongside members of his new cabinet. This event marks Modi’s unprecedented third term as Prime Minister, a milestone last achieved by Jawaharlal Nehru of the Congress party. The final decisions on the cabinet were made after an intense 11-hour meeting at Modi’s residence. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi, with President Droupadi Murmu administering the oath. To ensure security, a three-layered protection system has been established, including commandos from Delhi Police’s SWAT team and the National Security Guard (NSG). Given the heightened alert, Delhi has been declared a no-fly zone, with restrictions on drones, para-gliders, remotely piloted aircraft, and hot air balloons. The ceremony will host leaders from neighboring countries such as Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Mauritius, Seychelles, and the Maldives, underscoring India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy. Special routes have been designated for these dignitaries to ensure smooth travel between their hotels and the venue.
