Narendra Modi Takes Oath as Prime Minister for Third Consecutive Term

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the oath of office for his third consecutive term on Sunday, making history as the only leader after Jawaharlal Nehru to be elected for a third straight term after completing full tenures. The swearing-in ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, with Modi being joined by key ministers such as Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, and S Jaishankar.The event saw heavy security with approximately 1,100 traffic police personnel deployed and a public advisory issued for traffic and route management for the attendees. The ceremony was a significant moment reflecting India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy, with leaders and heads of state from neighboring regions and the Indian Ocean invited as distinguished guests.Dharmendra Pradhan, former education and skill development minister, was inducted into the Union cabinet for the third time. Pradhan returns to the Lok Sabha after 15 years, having won from Sambalpur in Odisha by defeating Pranab Prakash Das of the Biju Janata Dal.Additionally, K Ram Mohan Naidu, at the age of 37, took oath as a cabinet minister. An MP from Srikakulam, Naidu won the 2024 election against YSRCP’s P Tilak with a majority of over 3.2 lakh votes.
