Bhubaneswar: As the NDA’s Presidential candidate is announced, the state of Odisha is gripped by this sense of euphoria as this time the candidate is an Odia. A tribal and a woman, that is breaking a lot of traditions together. As the Presidential elect’s daughter speaks to Odishalinks, her face beams with pride and joy.

Itishree Murmu works as a bank employee in Bhubaneswar.

“I stay in Bhubaneswar and work as a bank employee here. I am very happy and proud that she has been selected as the Presidential nominee,” she says.

As Draupadi Murmu is the first tribal woman to be selected as a Presidential nominee, Itishree adds on and says, “Her nomination is definitely going to inspire and uplift all sections of people. The road from scratch to Rajpath doesn’t seem impossible anymore, and people will take motivation from her. “

On being asked about her mother’s morning routine, she goes onto say about how simple her mother’s lifestyle is. “She always has had a very simple lifestyle, she wakes up really early in the morning, does Yoga before she begins her day. She is active in social gatherings and does social work. She then goes onto attend her work meetings.”

“There’s a Shiv Temple near our house, it’s a part of her daily routine to go in and sweep the temple before offering Puja,” she added.

Draupadi Murmu served as the first woman governor for the state of Jharkhand. She will also be the first governor to complete her full five year term in the state of Jharkhand. Born in the Santhali tribe of Odisha, she started her political stint from the grassroot.

“It’s like a dream come true for us and I believe it was her humbleness and hard work that became the steeping stone for where she is today.” Itishree mentioned.
