IMD Forecasts Thunderstorms and Rainfall Across North-Eastern States and Odisha

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms in the north-eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, and Sikkim until June 19. These regions can also expect light to moderate rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds during this period.In its midday bulletin, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar reported that thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph may occur in several places, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati within the next 24 hours. A yellow warning has been issued for these areas.Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected in isolated areas of Koraput and Malkangiri districts. However, heatwave conditions might persist in parts of Balangir, Nuapada, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Balasore, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj. Hot and humid weather is anticipated in select areas of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
