Highest Single-Day Spike! India’s COVID-19 Death Toll

New Delhi: India on Tuesday (June 16, 2020), witnessed another jump of over 10,000 of coronavirus COVID-19 cases on a single-day count.

Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in India have risen to 3,54,065, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry. This number includes cases involving foreign nationals, patients who have recovered and the death toll.

The death toll in India due to the novel coronavirus pandemic has risen to 11,903.

The reported active COVID-19 cases in India stand at 1,55,227, according to the Union Health Ministry.

As many as 1,86,934 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat have reported the highest number of cases.

India is the world’s fourth worst-hit nation in terms of a total number of confirmed cases it is just behind the US, Brazil and Russia and is ranked sixth with regard to the number of recoveries, after the US, Brazil, Russia, Italy and Germany.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will initiate consultations with chief ministers of worst-affected states, including Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, Gujarat, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. PM Modi on Tuesday held talks with 21 heads of states and Union Territories and asserted that India fared better than many nations as far as the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic was concerned.
