Heavy Rainfall Alert For Odisha, SRC Issues Advisory To Collectors

Bhubaneswar : Office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on Thursday issued an advisory to Collectors in view of the heavy to very heavy rainfall issued for several districts of Odisha for the next five days.

The Collectors of the districts under Red, Orange and Yellow warnings have been advised to remain prepared to meet any waterlogging, localised flood-like situation in urban area and landslides.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued the above warnings for several districts for the next 24 hours.

As per the prediction, heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over the districts of Koraput, Nawarangpur, Malkangiri, Sundargarh and Deogarh.

Similarly, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

And, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Balasore.

Similar situation is going to prevail till August 25. Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea along and off Odisha coast during next 24 Hours and the Collectors have been directed to implement the advice strictly.
