Cyclone Amphan to intensify into ‘extremely severe storm’ in 6 Hours

Bhubaneswar : CycloneAmphan Update: The very severe cyclonic storm Amphan over central parts of South Bay of Bengal moved North-Northeastwards with a speed of 13kmph during past 6 hours and lay centred at 0230 hrs today over central parts of South & adjoining central Bay of Bengal.

As per latest IMD bulletin, the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘AMPHAN’ located about 820 km south of Paradip (Odisha) & 980 km south-southwest of Digha (West Bengal). It is very likely to intensify further into an Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm during next 06 hours.

Damage expected in Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur & Mayurbhanj dists as per IMD.

👉Total destruction of thatched houses/ extensive damage to kutcha houses.

👉Some damage to pucca houses.

👉Bending/ uprooting of power and communication poles.

👉Major damage to Kutcha and Pucca roads. Minor disruption of railways, overhead power lines and signalling systems.


👉Widespread damage to standing crops, plantations, orchards, falling of green coconuts and tearing of palm fronds.

👉Blowing down of bushy trees like mango.
