Bengal is simultaneously gearing up for the impact of Cyclone Remal and the sixth phase of the ongoing general elections, set for Saturday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that Cyclone Remal will likely make landfall between Sagar Island in Bengal and Khepupara in Bangladesh around midnight on Sunday. This event is expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall to Bengal’s coastal districts and northern Odisha from Saturday through Monday. The election preparations include polling in eight Lok Sabha seats, with East Midnapore’s Kanthi and Tamluk among them.
