Information Technology minister Ashwini Vaishnav in Rajya Sabha said, “If the Upper House has consensus, we are willing to introduce even stricter social media rules for micro-blogging sites such as Twitter and Facebook.” He said this while answering questions in the question hour.

He also followed up and continued that all social media sites must be held accountable. He also insisted that the government had taken “immediate action” after the “Bulli Bai” and “Sulli Deals” apps which auctioned photographs of Muslim women and put them on sale.
