800 Persons Have Been Rescued By Odisha Fire Services So Far

Bhubaneswar : Different teams of Odisha Fire Service have rescued total 810 persons including one pregnant woman and an old sick person and distributed relief materials in flood hit areas.

Dibyasankar Mishra, Minister of State, Energy, Industries Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Home visited different fire stations of Kendrapara District and reviewed the preparedness and deployment of rescue team in different areas of Kendrapara district.

Dr. Satyajit Mohanty, DG of Police, Fire Service, Home Guards & Civil Defence, Odisha also took the review meeting of deployment of fire service team in the different places of the flood affected areas along with senior officers and has suggested to closely monitor the flood situation of Mahanadi basin and mobilised necessary manpower & logistics for rescue and evacuation of the affected people.

In order to meet the prevailing flood situation, 14 rescue teams with power boats have been deployed in Jajpur district to carry out rescue and relief operation effectively. Besides, 12 teams each with power boats have been deployed in Kendrapara and Bhadrak district for rescue and relief operations. Seven teams of Puri district have been asked to remain on standby to meet any eventuality. Besides, additional 12 teams are kept stand by at Odisha Fire and Disaster Response Institute, Naraj, Cuttack for their immediate deployment if required.
