Environmentalist Medha Patkar detained ; Says I am not Terrorist

Renowned environmentalist Medha Patkar was picked up by the police in Rayagada while she was on her way to attend a program on the occasion of World Environment Day. Medha Patkar was supposed to attend a public meeting at Hatapada under the Kashipur block of Rayagada.

Medha Patkar said, “As soon as we got off the train on Thursday, a large number of police stopped us. We were not allowed to leave the station. We are neither criminals nor terrorists. We had only come here to tell people about the importance of environmental protection.”

Environmentalist Medha Patkar, who was in Rayagada to attend a rally organized by the Maa-Mati-Mali Surakhya Manch in Kashipur, was not allowed to leave the station by the police. Medha Patkar was taken from Rayagada and dropped off in Berhampur.
