Heavy Rainfall Predicted in Several Odisha Districts Due to Cyclonic Circulation

The regional weather office has forecasted heavy rainfall for Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh districts on Wednesday, driven by a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal.Light to moderate rainfall is expected to continue across the state over the next five days, with potential heavy downpours in specific districts.Coastal regions of Odisha will likely experience intermittent showers today.A yellow warning has been issued for Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Balangir, Nuapada, and Bargarh districts, anticipating heavy rainfall on June 27.On June 29, heavy to very heavy rains are predicted for Sambalpur and Bargarh districts, while heavy rains are expected in Angul, Khurda, Nayagarh, Boudh, Subarnapur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts.The state has seen an overall increase in rainfall, with an expected 163.6 mm since the start of June. However, only 94.6 mm has been recorded so far.Out of the 30 districts, five have experienced normal rainfall, and 21 have received moderate rainfall. Mayurbhanj, Baleshwar, Bhadrak, and Balangir have had particularly heavy rain. Bargarh’s Paikmal recorded the highest at 56 mm between yesterday morning and today.Other notable figures include Harbhanga in Boudh with 53 mm, Padmapur in Bargarh and Rayagada with 46 mm, and Bolgarh in Khurda with 37 mm. Jagatsinghpur received 49.2 mm, Nayagarh 24 mm, Chandbali 22.8 mm, Daringbadi 22 mm, Bhadrak 8 mm, Jajpur 5 mm, and Keonjhar 4.7 mm.
