Delhi High Court Stays Arvind Kejriwal’s Bail in Delhi Liquor Policy Case

Delhi, India, June 21 (HBTV): In a significant legal development, the Delhi High Court has put a hold on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s release order in a corruption case linked to the Delhi Liquor Policy. This decision will remain effective until the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) petition is heard.

The ED filed a challenge against Kejriwal’s bail just hours before his anticipated release from Tihar jail. Seeking an urgent hearing, the ED approached a bench comprising Justices Sudhir Kumar Jain and Ravinder Dudeja. The bench assured that they would review the case file within the next 10-15 minutes before proceeding with the hearing. Consequently, the high court instructed that the trial court’s bail order should not be implemented until further notice.

Earlier, a Delhi court had granted bail to Chief Minister Kejriwal on Thursday in a money laundering case related to the now-revoked excise policy. The court’s decision to grant bail came with specific conditions, including directives that Kejriwal must not interfere with the ongoing investigation or attempt to influence any witnesses.

Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate had requested the court to allow a 48-hour window for accepting bail bonds, providing the agency sufficient time to contest the order in a higher court.
