BJP’s Maiden Government in Odisha: Swearing-In Rescheduled to June 12

The swearing-in ceremony for Odisha’s first BJP government has been rescheduled to June 12, 2024, according to a PTI report citing BJP leaders Jatin Mohanty and Vijaypal Singh Tomar. Initially set for June 10, the event was postponed due to Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi’s prior commitments. Grand preparations are underway for the ceremony at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar.Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena announced that over 30,000 attendees are expected, including notable guests from various sectors. State BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma confirmed the change, citing Modi’s pressing engagements on June 10 and 11, including the swearing-in of Chandrababu Naidu in Andhra Pradesh.The oath-taking ceremony is now set for 8:35 PM on June 12, with Modi also planning a roadshow from Jayadev Vihar to Janata Maidan. The BJP Parliamentary Board is expected to meet soon to decide the new chief minister, with the BJP legislators convening on June 11 to elect their leader.
