Orissa HC’s Green Signal To Reopen Temples In The State

Cuttack : The Orissa High Court today has given green signal for reopening of temples in the state. The court has asked the Odisha Government to decide on reopening of temples and other religious institutions located outside containment zones in the state.

The court has issued the order while hearing a plea seeking opening of Puri Jagannath temple and other religious institutions in Odisha.

The HC ordered that the temples outside containment zones can be reopened strictly adhering Covid-19 guidelines and directed the state government to take a final decision on it.

It might be mentioned here that Prakash Panda, a servant of Kakatpur Maa Mangala temple and 15 others, including Trilochan Rath had filed a petition in the High Court praying for reopening of religious institutions including the Sri Mandir in Puri in the state.

The government had decided to close down temples and religious sites in the state in view of coronavirus pandemic.
