The pandemic and lockdown has broken the backbone of the poor. With no means of livelihood they’re left vulnerable. In a similar situation, the residents of Nabin basti(slum) haven’t been spared the wrath of it either. To lend them a helping hand in these tough times, an organization based in Bhubaneswar called Living Humanity reached out to the residents and helped them with grocery and other essential commodities. The organization distributed the items to about 17 families.
“We were having a really tough time because our means of earning has completely stopped due to the lockdown. In these difficult times, Living Humanity reached to us and provided us with necessary commodities. They also visited us last year. We are really grateful to them,” said Bansi Pradhan a visually impaired resident from the slum.
The organisation refers to itself as a movement. It believes in uniting people from all spheres.
“Living Humanity is an organization that aims in awakening Humanity in each human being. We believe that if every human being comes forward and contributes a minimal amount of not only money, but might be love, affection, care or prayer in each’s capacity, then this earth will become a better place to live in. Living Humanity acts as that bridge, between the needy and the service provider. Humanity is the stepping stone towards restoring Coexistence,” said Swadhin Pattnaik, a member.
The organisation that has it’s motto as ‘Uniting souls’ has been working towards this cause for about five years now.
