New Delhi : The education ministry has decided to issue a video statement regarding the NEET JEE postponement controversy at 3 pm on Thursday.

On Wednesday, a meeting was held between several chief ministers by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to discuss the deferment of JEE-NEET issue.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also on Thursday sought personal intervention of PM Modi for deferment of this year’s NEET and JEE exams in view of Coronavirus pandemic and flood situation.

Naveen discussed the issue with the PM in a telephonic conversation. He requested the Prime Minister to defer the NEET (UG) and JEE-Mains exams scheduled to be held in the month of September.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee informed at a meeting that the state government should get together to file an appeal at Supreme Court, challenging the Centre’s decision to conduct the all-India entrance exams even amid the ongoing crisis.

The CMs of seven non-BJP states agreed to go ahead with Banerjee’s suggestion.

As per sources, the video to be released by the education ministry today would also have a response to the state governments who are opposing the conduction of the JEE and NEET exams.

The ministry also issued a statement updating the number of JEE admit cards and NEET admit cards that have already been downloaded for the upcoming exams.
