Today marks the beginning of the elections in Odisha, with the first of four phases kicking off. More than 62 lakh eligible voters will play a crucial role in determining the future by casting their ballots. A total of 280 candidates are vying for their approval, each hopeful for success in this democratic process. In this phase of election, voting will take place in Nabarangpur, Koraput, Kalahandi, and Berhampur Lok Sabha constituencies. A total of 37 candidates are contesting for the Lok Sabha seats, while 243 nominees are vying for victory in the 28 assembly seats up for grabs.
In the initial phase of the 2024 Odisha General Elections, citizens are casting their votes across 7,303 polling booths. Technical issues arose in fewer than 1% of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

In Odisha’s upcoming elections, there are around 62.87 lakh eligible voters, out of which approximately 31.89 lakh are women. This means there are about 30.97 lakh more women voters than men in this initial phase of voting.
