Sun Temple’s glistens with art and artists

Konark: The five day Konark Festival begins where dancers from all round the country come and perform with the Sun Temple in the backdrop. This is a rare festival where one gets to witness dance and music in all it’s glory.

The festival that began from the year 1986 celebrates dance and music and was founded by Guru Gangadhar Pradhan. This takes place in the open air auditorium in front of the marvellous Sun Temple where one form of art meets another.

It is a sight to behold for dance and classical music lovers as the auditorium echoes with sounds of Tabla, flute, sitar and ghungroos. The festival goes on for five days as simultaneously with the International Sand Art Festival.

The inaugural day of the 2021 Konark Festival saw dance troupes performing from New Delhi performing Odissi and Kathak. The two troupes being Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and Dhwana Dance group. The first troupe led by Padmashree Madhavi Mudgal managed to capture the attention of the fascinated audience to Nartan Ganesh, Pallavi, Abhinaya and Trayi. While the second troupe performed Kathak and captivated the audience with panchakshar , jhaptaal and abhinaya based on Nayikas and Tarana.

The five day festival is a treat to lovers of dance and music. The festival is to showcase all forms of dance such as Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, Bharatnatyam in the upcoming days.
