Uttar Pradesh : Eight months after the Supreme Court verdict paved the way for the historic Ram Mandir in Ayodhya’s Ram Janmabhoomi, PM Narendra Modi is set to lay the foundation stone for the temple today.
The ceremony is said to take place at 12:40 pm, which is the auspicious ‘mahurat’ for the groundbreaking ceremony. PM Modi along with CM Yogi and 175 dignitaries including seers from all over the country will attend the event.
Police barricades, yellow banners, walls with a fresh coat of paint and the sounds of ‘bhajan’ mark parts of Ayodhya as the city awaits the laying of first brick of the Ram temple.
The bhoomi pujan will be telecast live. Prior to the function, PM Modi will take part in ‘pooja’ and ‘darshan’ at Hanuman Garhi. Then he will travel to ‘Shree Ram Janmabhoomi’ where he will take part in the rituals of ‘Bhagwan Shree Ramlalla Virajman’.
Concerned over the spread of coronavirus, authorities in Ayodhya have asked the public not to come to the temple town and instead mark the occasion by celebrating in their homes. Roads leading into the area have been barricaded.
