Puri : The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to document this year’s Puri Rath Yatra, which was a historic event held amidst speculations over the decision of the Supreme Court and scare of COVID-19.
“Rath Yatra this year was historic, held amidst terrible circumstances. How was the festival celebrated in such a situation, how were the chariots constructed, how all came together with one mind and spirit to make it possible, will be documented by the SJTA through video, photos and book which would be exemplary,” said Chief Administrator Krishan Kumar after attending a meeting of Jagannath Temple Managing Committee and Chhattish Nijog on Tuesday.
A sub-committee of the temple administration headed by Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb will be assigned the responsibility of documentation, he added.
Kumar also thanked the devotees and residents of Puri district who adhered to the guidelines of the Supreme Court and watched Rath Yatra by staying in their respective houses. It is because of them, the efforts of the officials engaged in the festival and media persons that it completed without any hassle.
