Indian player Sania Mirza announced her intention to retire from tennis after this season. She made the announcement in a press conference after she and her Ukranian partner suffered an opening round loss. Sania and Nadia lost against Kaja Zuvan and Tamara Zidansek of Slovenia.
She said, “I’ve decided this will be my last season. I’m taking it weeky by week, not sure if I can last the season, but I want too.”
She added, “Still feel I can play well, go deep into tournaments and all that. But beyond this season I don’t see my by body do it either. It’s beat.”
The 35 year old Tennis star had already bid adieu to singles in 2013. She has six Grand Slam Titles in women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
