Today marks a significant moment in bilateral relations as Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomes Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her first State visit since his government’s third consecutive term began. The leaders are set to engage in discussions in Delhi, focusing on a wide array of crucial topics including defence, connectivity, infrastructure, power and energy cooperation, trade and economic partnership, development cooperation, river water-sharing, and cultural ties.
Ahead of their talks, Prime Minister Modi greeted Prime Minister Hasina at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Hasina arrived in the capital on Friday and has scheduled meetings with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar. Sources suggest that the discussions may result in significant agreements such as a defence pact, financial package, and a rail transit pact, underscoring the depth and breadth of the bilateral relationship between India and Bangladesh.
