New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu participated in the celebration of Odisha’s agricultural festival, ‘Raja Parb,’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday. She enjoyed cultural performances such as ‘Mayurbhanj Chhau,’ ‘Sambalpuri,’ and ‘Karma’ dances.’Raja Parb’ is a prominent festival in Odisha, marking the onset of the monsoon and celebrated with great enthusiasm. Over three days, the festival features decorated swings with flowers and mango leaves as a central attraction. Mehndi artists were invited, and traditional Odia cuisine, including various types of ‘pitha,’ ‘sherbet,’ and ‘paan,’ was provided for participants, as per a press release from the President’s Secretariat.The official X handle of Rashtrapati Bhavan shared, “President Droupadi Murmu attended the celebrations of Raja Parb, an agricultural festival of Odisha in Rashtrapati Bhavan. She also witnessed a cultural program featuring Raja Geet and performances of Mayurbhanj Chhau, Sambalpuri, and Karma dances.”This event is significant as it marks the first time Odisha’s agriculture-based festival has been celebrated at Rashtrapati Bhavan, offering a unique insight into Odia culture and traditions. Additionally, the BJP Odisha’s official X handle highlighted the participation of state Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the festivities.
