Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed BJP workers on Tuesday with spirited chants of “Jai Jagannath” following the announcement of the recent poll results. The BJP achieved a remarkable victory in the Odisha Assembly elections, securing 50 seats and leading in 28 others, out of 147 total seats. This victory paves the way for the state’s first BJP Chief Minister.

“The BJP is poised to form a government in Odisha for the first time. The state of Lord Jagannath has entrusted us with this historic opportunity,” PM Modi declared. The BJP’s success extended to the Lok Sabha elections as well, where the party won nine out of 21 seats and was leading in 10 others as of 9:30 PM. In contrast, Naveen Patnaik’s BJD was ahead in one seat, and the Congress secured one seat.

During his address at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, PM Modi expressed his gratitude to the people for their overwhelming support. “Today’s results are a testament to the people’s trust in the BJP and the NDA. This is a victory for democracy, a triumph of our Constitution, and a testament to the ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’ mantra,” he stated, referring to the inclusive development agenda of his administration.

Highlighting the BJP’s achievements, PM Modi emphasized the unprecedented mandate given by the people of Odisha, acknowledging their role in enabling the BJP to form the state government. He pointed out the electoral defeats suffered by the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh, where the NDA made significant gains. The BJP, for the first time, will lead the government in Odisha and has shown exceptional performance in the Lok Sabha elections in the state.

PM Modi also noted the BJP’s success in Kerala and praised the NDA’s performance in Andhra Pradesh under Chandrababu Naidu and in Bihar under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Taking a jab at the opposition coalition INDIA, he remarked, “The opposition couldn’t secure even those seats that the BJP won independently.”

Reflecting on the past decade of governance, PM Modi outlined several key achievements of his administration. “In the last 10 years, we have made crucial decisions and implemented the world’s largest welfare programs. Twelve crore people received tap water connections for the first time since Independence. Four crore families now have pucca houses. Eight hundred million beneficiaries received free ration, and millions received free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. We also achieved significant reforms such as the removal of Article 370 and implemented GST, IPC, and banking reforms,” he enumerated.

The Prime Minister’s speech resonated with a sense of accomplishment and optimism, celebrating not just the BJP’s electoral successes, but also the transformative impact of their policies on millions of lives across India.
