BJP nominee Om Birla has been re-elected as the Lok Sabha Speaker, securing the position for another term. With the numbers favoring the ruling coalition, Birla was set to retain the Speaker’s post. After his win, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi congratulated Birla and escorted him to the Speaker’s chair. PM Modi highlighted Birla’s experience from the previous term as a valuable asset for guiding the country forward. Birla’s opponent, Congress candidate K Suresh, filed his nomination after the ruling party and the Opposition failed to reach a consensus the previous evening.
