Bhubaneswar: Odisha continues to endure a heatwave that has gripped the state for the past two days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, maximum temperatures are expected to rise by 2°C to 4°C across various regions over the next two days.The IMD also forecasts increased humidity levels, making conditions even more uncomfortable. Hot and humid weather is likely to persist throughout the state until May 31, with Paradip and Gopalpur already experiencing humidity levels of 79%.Heatwave conditions are anticipated in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bolangir, and Nuapada on Wednesday and Thursday. Despite the intense heat, some areas may receive intermittent rain, with potential lightning and thunderstorms expected on Wednesday.Looking ahead, the southwest monsoon is projected to arrive on the Indian mainland between May 31 and June 1, starting in Kerala. This year, the country is forecasted to experience an above-normal monsoon with 106% rainfall, according to the IMD.
