The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional center has forecasted an increase in temperatures across Odisha by 2-3°C over the next four days, with no significant changes anticipated thereafter.The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre reported that the maximum temperature is expected to rise during this period. Currently, Odisha is enduring a severe heatwave, with temperatures reaching 40°C or higher in 20 locations yesterday.According to the weather department, Nuapada recorded the highest temperature at 44°C. This was followed by Boudh at 42.8°C, Paralakhemundi at 42.4°C, Bolangir at 42.2°C, and Baripada at 42°C. Other areas experiencing high temperatures include Nayagarh (41.7°C), Jharsuguda (41.6°C), Talcher (41.6°C), Sambalpur (41.6°C), and Bargarh (41.2°C). Additionally, Dhenkanal registered 41.2°C, Angul 41.1°C, Titilagarh 41°C, Khordha 41°C, Rourkela 41°C, Sonepur 40.6°C, Balasore 40.5°C, Hirakud 40.1°C, Bhawanipatna 40°C, and Sundargarh 40°C.In contrast, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded slightly lower temperatures of 39.2°C and 39.8°C respectively. Given the ongoing heatwave conditions, the weather department has advised residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe.
