Odisha Govt Fixes COVID-19 Treatment Cost For Private Hospitals

Bhubaneswar : Odisha government on Friday issued an advisory for provisioning a COVID-19 unit in private hospitals with 30 or more beds. The State government has also fixed the cost of treatment of COVID-19 patients in various private hospitals.

COVID-19 Treatment – Here is the break-up:

-General Bed – Rs 2950 to Rs 4750
-ICU – Rs 10,000 to Rs 17,000
-ICU with Ventilator – Rs 12,000 to Rs 18,000

The State government had also cautioned private hospitals not to collect exorbitant fees and warned of strict action in case of any violation.

Issuing a host of guidelines, the Health Department had said the private hospitals should follow the patient discharge policy of the government and cannot detain someone over non-payment.

As per the latest advisory, all the private hospitals having 30 beds or more shall designate minimum of 10 per cent of all beds to be reserved for COVID-19 patients with an option to convert the entire hospital as a COVID hospital.

However, they have to intimate the Collectors and DM of the district concerned and the State-level Authorised Officer for data updating. They have to appoint one Authorised Medical Officer who will coordinate with the State authorities.

Such reserved beds must include appropriate numbers of ICU beds with ventilators dedicated for Covid patients. (At the rate of 10% of all available beds).

Only those patients, who want to pay on their own or covered under their own insurance, shall be treated in the hospital. No reimbursement or payment of any kind towards treatment of such patient will be made by the State government.
