Odisha Aims To Reduce COVID Deaths, Forms Technical Committees In Medical Colleges

Bhubaneswar : In spite of Odisha having the lowest mortality rate due to COVID-19 in the country, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik desires to reduce it further as every life is precious, stated Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department PK Mohapatra on Wednesday.

Accordingly, on the direction of the Health Department, Directorate of Medical Education & Training have formed multidisciplinary technical committees in different Government Medical Colleges in the State for round the clock monitoring, and provision of technical assistance to COVID Health Facilities in different districts.

The Medical Colleges and the districts tagged to the colleges are as mentioned below.

  1. SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack – Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khurda, Puri, Dhenkanal, Angul
  2. MKCG Medical College & Hospital, Berhampur – Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal
  3. VIMSAR, Burla – Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Bargarh, Deogarh
  4. BB Medical College & Hospital, Bolangir – Bolangir, Sonepur, Nuapada, Kalahandi
  5. SLN Medical College & Hospital, Koraput – Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur
  6. FM Medical College & Hospital, Balasore – Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur
  7. PRM Medical College & Hospital, Baripada – Mayubhanj, Keonjhar

The Dean and Principals of medical colleges are required to designate an officer each who will coordinate for providing services of appropriate speciality in time to COVID Hospitals. His name and phone number are to be shared with the Collector and CDM & PHOs of the different districts.
