Bhubaneswar : There seems to be no let-up in the overall COVID-19 situation as positive cases continue to see an upward trend in Odisha. As many as 179 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours, taking Odisha’s tally to 4856 on Saturday.
While 150 cases have been reported from different quarantine centres, 29 are local contacts. Contact tracing and followup action is underway, said the department. Ganjam district reported highest 57 cases followed by Khordha and Keonjhar with 27 and 18 cases, respectively.
Of the total fresh cases, 161 have been reported from 15 districts: Khordha (27), Angul (6), Nabarangpur (1), Jagatsinghpur (4), Cuttack (15), Bargarh (2), Bhadrak (5), Jajpur (3), Malkangiri (2), Rayagada (5) Keonjhar (18) Deogarh (1), Ganjam (57), Kendrapada (5) and Mayurbhanj (10). Besides, 10 cases are personnel of NDRF and Odisha Fire Services, who were under quarantine after returning from Amphan during in West Bengal.
With the new cases, the number of active cases in the state rose to 1543. While 3297 patients have recovered in the state so far, 11 succumbed to the virus.
