Mohan Charan Majhi, a prominent tribal leader and four-time MLA, was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Odisha today. The ceremony took place at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar around 5 pm. This marks the first time the BJP has held the chief ministerial position in the state.The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union Ministers, and chief ministers from various BJP-ruled states. Earlier in the day, Majhi visited former CM Naveen Patnaik at his residence, Naveen Niwas, to formally invite him to the swearing-in ceremony.To accommodate the event, the Odisha government announced the closure of its offices in Bhubaneswar from 1 pm onwards. Security was heightened with the deployment of 67 platoons of police.In the recent state Assembly elections, the BJP secured 78 out of 147 seats, while the BJD won 51 seats.
