Manohar Parrikar’s Son To Address Press Conference Today After Not Finding a Place In The BJP’s First list of Candidates

Utpal Parrikar, The Ex Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s son fails to find himself in the first list of 34 candidates released by the BJP for the Goa Assembly Elections. Reportedly, Utpal Parrikar had wanted to contest from Panaji which was his father’s seat for 25 years before he passed away in 2019. However, the BJP had decided to field the sitting MLA, Atanasio Monserrate.

Monserrate won the 2017 bye-elections on a congress ticket and thereafter joined the BJP with 9 other Congress MLA’s in 2019. Monserrate is also accused of raping a minor and several other crimes.

Utpal told ANI, “I will hold a press conference today to announce my decision for Goa Assembly polls 2022.”

Delhi Chief Minister and National Convenor AAP also criticised the BJP and called them hypocrites for using an throwing people. In a tweet he said, “Goans feel v sad that BJP has adopted use and throw policy even with Parrikar family. I have always respected Manohar Parrikar ji. Utpal ji is welcome to join and fight elections on AAP ticket.”
