Bhubaneswar : There have been several instances where the time duration between an asymptomatic case and his / her death in case of COVID-19 is less than 24 hours. The novel Coronavirus infection can be fatal, which is why even the slightest of symptoms should not be concealed and shared with health workers, said Subroto Bagchi, Chief Spokesperson of Odisha Government for COVID-19 management.
Addressing a press conference today, Bagchi alerted people of the State on behalf of the Government to cooperate with Asha workers who are conducting door to door survey.
The door to door health survey will be carried out in each household in urban slums and villages. People should not hesitate to share their exact health condition with the ASHA workers. The survey will continue for 45 days till the end of this month.
“Anyone with COVID symptom with be sent to COVID care centre. Over there he or she will be tested, and if found positive, the persons would be shifted to the COVID hospital. In case the person is found negative, but has symptoms, he or she will remain in home quarantine,” Bagchi said.
“Trace, test and treat is the principle of this survey. Be responsible citizens and cooperate with the Government,” he urged.
Till today, India has reported 6,28,205 COVID-19 positive cases. Bagchi added that the infection is spreading rapidly. USA reported 52,000 cases in one single day while India reported 21,000 cases. “It is high time we all need to be extra careful and check the spread of this deadly disease,” he said.
