First Session of the 18th Lok Sabha Concludes

The First Session of the 18th Lok Sabha, which began on June 24, 2024, successfully concluded on July 2. Speaker Om Birla highlighted that this inaugural session featured seven sittings, spanning approximately 34 hours. Impressively, the Lok Sabha achieved a productivity rate of 103% during this period, according to the Lok Sabha Secretariat.

A significant portion of this session was dedicated to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address. This discussion, held on June 27, extended for over 18 hours, with 68 Members actively participating. Additionally, 50 Members chose to lay their speeches on the table, ensuring their contributions were recorded.

The Prime Minister’s reply on July 2 marked the conclusion of the discussion on the Motion of Thanks. Speaker Om Birla commended the active engagement of the Members, noting the high level of discourse and the substantial participation from both sides of the House.

The 18th Lok Sabha’s first session set a promising tone for future parliamentary proceedings, reflecting a commitment to productivity and robust debate. The active participation and extended discussions underline the Members’ dedication to addressing key issues and contributing to legislative processes.
