Economy must be put back on track: Sanjay Das Burma

Bhubaneswar: The State Planning Board vice chairman Sanjay Das Burma has stressed that the economy must be put back on rails.

Presiding over a meeting of the planning board on Tuesday, Das Burma said the state is going through a very crucial phase of economic distress due to the outbreak of the dreaded disease.

Hundreds of thousands of migrant workers have landed in their native places, he said and added that they have to be provided with employment opportunities so that their economic backbone is not shattered.

Das Burma said the village economy needed much attention and urged the officials to prepare a roadmap for bringing the economy back on tracks.

He said coronavirus pandemic has devastated the economy of the state and it is our collective endeavour to address the issue.

The meeting was attended by principal secretary, finance, Ashok Kumar Meena, who stressed that enhancement of mandays is the need of the hour.

The other officials who attended the meet were Dr Saurav Garg, principal secretary, farmers’ empowerment, Mission Shakti secretary Anu Garg, minorities welfare secretary Ranjana Chopra, water resources secretary Surendra Kumar, tourism commissioner Vishal Deb and others.
