Drivers Association Of Odisha protested in Bhubaneswar on Monday. Thousands of drivers took to streets and shut down roads and all modes of transportation in the capital city. They alleged the state government of not paying attention to their demands.
The driver’s association had protested and given a 10 point memorandum in October last year but allegedly the government hadn’t responded.
They asked for safety and insurance cover for drivers who get injured or die due to road accidents among other demands.
The transportation minister Padmanabh Behera intervened and assured the agitated drivers that a committee would be formed and their demands met.
